Breaking Ground is a full service landscape design, installation, and consulting firm that blends talent with experience. We have been creating inspired gardens throughout the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998. We constantly search out new and exciting materials and ideas as inspiration for our work. Our gardens reflect the tastes, experiences, and passions of their owners and are highly individualized.
Breaking Ground Landscape Designs is a family owned and operated company. Heather and Rick, the principals, have been married since 1997 and began the business in 1998. They bring diverse backgrounds to their work which include: fine art, music, horticulture, sustainable agriculture, and a genuine love for plants and the natural world. Together they bring this unique combination of talents to their work and the results are carefully planned, harmonious garden spaces with a beauty all their own. Heather and Rick met in 1995 working on an organic farm and have been gardening together ever since.
